One of our favorite NY bands The Above are putting the finishing touches on their debut: a self-titled full length due out soon.

We just got a chance to listen to the record and, having only heard most of the tracks live, it’s great interpretation of this Brooklyn, Mod/Rock staple’s songs, translating the energy of the live set into a disc of 60’s-rooted pop-tunes. Awesome!

To wet our collective appetite, the Above put together the below video. You can also heck out some new tracks on the band’s myspace.

That’s right! Ryan Wong and Company’s much anticipated, totally amazing Desert Rock masterpiece ‘AZ-238’ is finally upon us!

The first LP (on Jay Reatard’s Shattered Records) was one of our fave records. So much so, that we made Tokyo Electron’s “Make Me Bleed” the first track on our last compilation CD.

This record is no disappointment, and the songwriting mixed with the style of production implemented creates a sound that is absolutely crushing. Check out the Mp3 of the title-track below and tell me those thick guitars and pounding rhythm don’t get you all hot and bothered.

FDH and Certified PR teamed up to deliver this monster to the world and are two labels you should be getting familiar with. Intimately.

Buy it now from FDH records or wait for a repress.
