Last night, there was a book signing at WORD in Brooklyn for the new book (duh) The Tattooed Lady-A History. The book uncovers the true stories behind the early tattooed women of the traveling circuses and carnivals, bringing them out of the sideshow realm and into their working class realities. Combining thorough research with more than a hundred historical photos, this social history explores tattoo origins, women’s history, and circus lore. Worth a looksee (apparently, it also makes you talk like its the 1920’s).

Now you may ask yourself: “In the grand scheme of things, does this book matter?” Well, of course not. If you want to read something that matters you should read classic literature or a book on some sort of historic event. With that said, this book is totally useless but completely awesome!

Amy and Handsome Dick (of Dictators fame, retard) took a novel idea and went crazy with it, creating one of the most entertaining books released in quite some time and, quite possibly, the best thing to take a shit with. Ever.

The book features well over 200 lists penned by more people than even the most accomplished name-dropper would be able to mention in a lifetime with killer illustrations accompanying a lot of them.

One of my favourites is Jon Spencer’s “14 Foods To Avoid On Tour”:7.Cowballs: -do not eat cowballs at interstate truck stops in Middle America. In fact, don’t eat any kinds of balls, anywhere.

You could spend hours pouring though all the fun stuff contained in this book or, as I did, break it up into little installments so the thing takes months to read! Go buy this now! You won’t be disappointed.

Here’s some stuff from the book:
